Customer Reviews and Description I have been usings Busy People's Diabetic Cookbook for several months. This Cookbook has a lot of Breakfast ideas, and delicious drink smoothies that I find very helpful to keep me going on a good, healthy diet. It also has a lot of other delicious entree ideas that are easy to make. My kids love the Super Fruity Strawberry Milk Shakes, and when made, and poured into a tall glass, it looks like a special shake straight from the malt shop! It's delicious. The Cream of Chicken & Brocolli Soup was ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description This is a depressing tale of death, friendship, and loyalty. I was swept up in the tale, but there was a certain element of predictability that was....well, predictable. I never felt that the characters lived full lives, and this caused me to feel that the characters themselves were rather one-dimensional. This could have been exactly what Erdich hoped to portray, however. I've made this one available to my reading group, but so far-- no takers. Do give it a try.

Customer Reviews and Description I tried as hard as I could but just could not get into this book. Not quite as bad as her book, "Impossible," but close. Danielle Steel is getting so repetitive in her writing. Basically, this book repeated over and over how much Quinn liked sailing and how he neglected his wife throughout the years and that he didn't realize how much she meant to him until she was dying/dead. Drivel. She could have elaborated on what was supposedly the storm of the century but ended it quickly or expanded on the ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description All the sentiment, emotion and spirit of Angela's Ashes is gone and in it's place is a tale of resentment and anger. I thought Angela's Ashes was written with a sense of pride and understanding but neither can be found in McCourt's TIS. TIS contains too much whining and complaining and not enough inspiration to be recommended. This book is depressing enough to make Oprah Winfrey's book list.

Customer Reviews and Description Content (5 Stars) - Showalter's parallel biography captures the brilliance and complexity of two controversial military leaders. Of particular interest are the author's accounts of both men's upbringing; Rommel's experiences and heroism during the First World War; context to and ellaboration on the "slapping incidents" in Sicily; and balance to both men's outspokenness, especially later in WWII. The book does an excellent job of comparing and contrasting Rommel and Patton's personal lives and command philosophies, ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description Many people assume that Darwin's initial account of natural selection is so out of date that it is to be avoided in favour of more recent text books of evolutionary theory. While it is true that huge gains have been made in the one and a half centuries since the first publication of "The Origin", there is nothing in this work which is wrong. Darwin was too good a scientist and too cautious.

Customer Reviews and Description Just a comment to P. Pollak: Definetly, definetly read the first books. And then you'd know immediately to what that 'Elegy for a Lost Star' is referenced. You'll understand SO much more. And the first three books are much, much more enjoyable.

Customer Reviews and Description This is one of my favorite books. If you're the kind of person who likes books with a very clear plot and conclusion, then it isn't for you. Instead, this book focuses more on relationships between people, growing older, emotions, changes, and death. What I really love about it is the way it captures the essence of life. It's sad, but without being a soap opera or anything. This is a touching and honest book that I'll probably never forget.

Customer Reviews and Description For those of you who are already fans of espionage writer Charles McCarry, I have great news. McCarry has been coaxed out of retirement and has written a riveting novel in "Old Boys." For those of you who have yet to sample the delights of McCarry's prose, I have good news for you, as well. You have the opportunity to introduce yourself to the pleasures of reading the offerings of this former undercover CIA agent while he is still producing new works.
