Customer Reviews and Description I had a classical education, as did my husband. I taught in a private college prep school at one time and used many classical methods there. I must say, without a doubt, that this book is THE BEST resource out there for implementing a classical education curriculum in your home. It has tips for full-time home schooling families as well as those who want to supplement for the oft-lacking public/private school experience. The authors give a lot of tips on implementing, not just vague goals the way many educational ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description There are answers in the book that does not make any sense at all, especially towards the end of the book. Some of the wrong answers are obviously right, and I asked two of my friends who are also studying for the tests, and they both agree with me that the answers are a little "fishy".

Customer Reviews and Description I always look to see if an author stands in their truth. If they walk their talk. Dr. Christiane Northrup does. I have read all of her books, Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom, The Wisdom of Menopause and now Mother-Daughter Wisdom. They all embody her path to well-being and her knowledge on the subject of women's health. In her book Mother-Daughter Wisdom, she shares her own life experiences from raising two daughters and her expertise as a medical doctor and relates them to health and wellness. I find this book to ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description I read this book when it was first published, and recently went back and reread it------curious how I would see it post 9/11. As most know, Thich Nhat Hanh situates much of his thoughts on peace from his experience living as a Vietnamese through a half-century of colonialism and war. The book, while discussing peace and other global concerns, more broadly addresses the very practical challenges of living in modern western society. How do we slow down, be more mindful and more connected to the earth and its creatures? How do we ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description Sarah Vowell is one of America's best writers in the genre of humor. Personally, having read both Sedaris and Rakoff, two other fantastic humorists, I am rather partial to Vowell. Take the Cannoli seems to demonstrate her ability to both make us think and laugh. It seems that in most of her essays, I learn about as much as I laugh. Personally, I thought the title essay was extremely well done and is deserving of much praise from the literary community.

Customer Reviews and Description Fundraising is both art and science--and Jerry Panas is a master of both sides of the fundraising equation. This is a fast read with practical ideas that anyone raising charitable funds can use. Asking people for money can be terrifying if you're not (emotionally) prepared. Panas walks you through the process and builds your confidence---and makes plain that the act of asking is in itself the victory, because not asking is the failure. This takes the pressure off, and whether the gift comes from the first ask or the hundred-and-first, ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description In his book, The Irresistable Revolution: Life as an Ordinary Radical, Shane Claiborne speaks of his journey into love. He tells the stories of his life, a path that has led an upwardly mobile Christian young man into one of the worst neighborhoods I have ever been in. Although this book is full of radical theology (stuff that gets you to really fall in love with loving God's poor), it is communicated by stories. These tales are always delightful, often funny, and very confrontive to the ways of a middle-class suburbanite. Yet I don't ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description
