Customer Reviews and Description Will Jamie D'Antona have a career in the pros? The Last Best League is written by Jim Collins is about a baseball league called the Cape Cod where the best college baseball players play baseball in there off-season. The Cape Cod baseball league can really boost your chances to getting to the pros because there are tons of pro scouts. Customer Reviews and Description I like this novel so much that I'm going to use it as a set book in a college class. It's original, touching and funny--full of the compassion and insight that its main character, Jimmy, seeks. After a few paragraphs I settled into the Glaswegian dialect easily. It's hard for a teacher to find a well written novel that isn't depressing. This is the only one on my short list (Brian Moore's Feast of Lupercal and Keneally's Passenger were others, but Donovan gives the reader at least as much as either ... Customer Reviews and Description This is not an important book, but it is very enjoyable. It is a wonderful tribute to the variety and beauty that can be developed by either natural selection or selective breeding. Or, if you are creationist in your outlook, it is a wonderful example of the Creator's whimsy. The book is mostly photographs; there are some some brief descriptions of the types photographed, and a little general background text - but basically, it is a photography book.

Customer Reviews and Description I recently discovered Patricia Cornwell (arrived back from Mars a few weeks ago). I came across an old copy of From Potter's Field in a used book store. I was absolutely entralled with Kay Scarpetta. What a heroine! I spent the next few weeks collecting the entire series, from Postmorten to Predator. Late one night, I finished The Last Precinct and eagerly picked up Blow Fly.

Customer Reviews and Description My parents had this book when I was growing up (hardcover) and I had to get it when I saw it on here one day. I love all of the pictures and ideas. I like how it goes from telling you how to make something basic like hamburgers or eggs and then something more challenging. I love that it talks about meal planning and place setting. It's perfect for someone just starting out and they won't get board with it. I just picked one of these up for my new sister in law since she admired mine so much. I will be handing mine down to ... Customer Reviews and Description I found this to be a helpful book. It's not always easy to know what to say in awkward situations and this book gives good examples of what to say and most importantly what NOT to say! It also gives tips on how to handle yourself if you happen to stick your foot in your mouth. This book is not an old fashioned one as the title might suggest but rather a modern guide to dealing with today's uncomfortable social situations which most women encounter at some point in their lives...Examples: What do you do if someone shows you photos ... Customer Reviews and Description I had read four of Cornwell's more recent books before picking up Stonehenge. It seems that he has improved greatly over time, because this earlier work is not up to the the level of his later efforts. The plot jerks along in fits and starts. The hero, Saban, has difficulty foreseeing what is obvious to any reader, and constantly gets into fixes that could easily have been avoided. Unless you are trying to complete your list of Cornwell books, avoid this and stick to his later works.
