Customer Reviews and Description I read this book when my daughter was just at a time when if I said something was a red herring she was looking for the fish, she seemed just exactly in the moment he was talking about that I had long lost. Something as simple as feeling the rain on her face or trying to walk across the shine on the mall floor caused her to fear falling into the pool she saw from the surface or not knowing if it felt cold or hurt, this falling rain so rare out in her CA home, trying to tell me of rain as something ... Customer Reviews and Description Danny and the Dinosaur is a delightful tale of imagination and good-humored fun. Danny visits a museum where he meets a dinosaur looking for a little bit of fun after 100 million years of just hanging around. They go and have a great time playing in the city. No one is hurt or placed in danger, and everyone has a good time.

Customer Reviews and Description I bought this book just so that I could identify some of the birds at my backyard birdfeeder. So far, I've only been able to identify one from this book. The pictures and descriptions aren't very good, and it's very hard to narrow down the type of bird, since they're not organized by geographic area, etc. I would definitely recommend the National Audobon Society books over this one.

Customer Reviews and Description I suspect that most birders who like the Peterson field guides will embrace Kenn Kaufman's _Field Guide to Birds of North America_. It's from the same publisher (Houghton Mifflin) and (in my mind) bears a striking resemblance in size and format; in his dedication Kaufman acknowledges Peterson's legacy. Perhaps this guide stakes a claim as the successor to the RTP guides, and I certainly welcome the decision to cover the continent in one volume.

Customer Reviews and Description It has been my dream to become a zoologist since before I could even pronounce it, so I have read many, many books on animals. This one was the best and most imformative. I swear it has every animal ever discovered! All you have to do is go to the index and look up the animal you want to know about, then turn to the page. It's that easy. It has loads of pictures and stuff pretty much everything you want to know about any animal. I would carry this around everywhere, but it's way to heavy, which shows how full it is ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description The fundamental (yes, nice choice of word, eh?) problem with "science" in the modern world is that it has become a religion all its own. I have bad news for everyone who espouses Darwin's theory as fact, then attacks Johnson for saying that "absence of evidence is evidence of absence." In a real scientific world, that is EXACTLY the case.

Customer Reviews and Description This is a book you will want to read again and again, just so you can relive a particularly funny moment. James Herriot is such a gifted story teller that he draws the reader right into the story. You truly feel as if you are standing by his side and observing what is happening. As you read you get a picture in your mind's eye of what is described in each page. Absolutely brilliant.
