Customer Reviews and Description I don't believe this book is an authentic autobiography. I don't doubt these things happen, just that this is a non-fiction work. I honestly believe we have the literary equivalent to a Blaire Witch Project here. (Promotion/distribution gimik)

Customer Reviews and Description No historian covers financial subjects as well as Ron Chernow. This book on Hamilton, as well as his previous efforts on John Rockefeller (Titan) and JP Morgan (The House of Morgan) are thoroughly researched, clearly written and offer entertaining reading, despite covering complicated topics.

Customer Reviews and Description This is without a doubt one of the most boring books I have ever read. You need to take notes to understand it. It is very disjointed; it feels like a bunch of different chapter articles bound together in book form. It deals with a fascinating subject; it is a pity that it was not better written because it could have been an excelent book. This may be the fault of the editor rather than the writer; she certainly needed some expert help with making her chapters fit together in a cohesive manner.

Customer Reviews and Description I couldn't put this charming book down. Having a near life-long desire to live in Scotland or Ireland (I know -- they're not the same!), I couldn't resist ordering this book. Ms. Rathbone is a fine writer and evokes her Scottish home in both its glory and its -- well, not tatters, but let's say less happy aspects. I still want to go to Scotland -- but she made me see things a little more realistically than I had before.

Customer Reviews and Description As a quant developer, I enjoyed the book thoroughly, especially the Wall Street stories. Author was especially good in putting the finance theories on paper very lucidly.

Customer Reviews and Description Darwin Porter has taken every bit of gossip about Brando's sex life added dialogue and put it into this book. I do not believe the sex scenes with Tallulah Bankhead, Bette Davis and Joan Crawford or many others, for that matter. In the age of the Internet, this kind of book is pathetic. I actually believe more of the gossip on the Internet!

Customer Reviews and Description Easily one of the best written Lincoln biographies of the last quarter century but not of all time. Donald's book has been labeled a masterpiece and while it comes close, I myself wouldn't go so far. I think it's an easy book to read and it flows very well. However, David Herbert Donald made the mistake (in my opinion) of leaving out the text of Abraham Lincoln's greatest speeches and letters (ex: the Gettysburg Address). Other than that, it is an amazing story of an amazing man. Abraham Lincoln has inspired many over the years and ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description
