Customer Reviews and Description I picked this book up in the Sydney airport in November while on vacation. Upon return home, I learned that it was not yet published in the US, so ordered 10 copies from Australia. I have given copies to friends and family, colleagues and elected officials. Without wanting to seem excessively dramatic, this book has changed my life.

Customer Reviews and Description World oil consumption will exceed one thousand barrels a second in 2006, according to Tertzakian, who then uses that fact as the title for the book. On the other hand, the significance of this happenstance is never explained, leaving the reader with the question: "What does that mean?"

Customer Reviews and Description This book provides a wonderful account of how one person with autism views herself and the world. It helped clarify some perceptions I had about people with autism and is a must for service providers.

Customer Reviews and Description This book is a must for all who will be birding in North America. All species are illustrated in full color (more than 800 species), with plumage variations where applicable. However, the book contains illustrations by several artists, so the pictures lack the consistency of being the work of a single artist. Nevertheless, I highly recommend this book for all who love birds, and birds of North America in particular.

Customer Reviews and Description I purchased this book to go into my family's emergency preparedness kit. This is a reference book to have when you consider the fact that the earth is now 9 degrees off its normal axis, recent climate change, and other natural disasters. Let's not forget the man maid disasters as well.

Customer Reviews and Description "Into Thin Air" is exhilaratingly tragic. It spins the tale of the May 1996 expeditions to Mount Everest, on which the author lost 5 climbing companions in a powerful storm. More than that, it is the story of the driven, willful, courageous and sometimes foolhardy people who hear and heed the call of the mountains. It is also about the commercialization of the Everest experience, and how the quest for fame and dollars can turn deadly.

Customer Reviews and Description Did I enjoy this book? I thought that it was fantastic. Originally, I felt, Oh hum, 500 pages on a river,,boring. After I started I literally could not put it down. I felt that the historical portions on the politics were excellent. The pictures enriched the reading. And the topics on engineering river and water were outstanding. These were topics that I would never have considered reading or thinking about and have added to new knowledge and stiumulated new interests.

Customer Reviews and Description I wanted a bird guide that would cover all Florida birds. It did not include all birds, including the one I needed to identify, which turned out to be an atypical muscovy duck. There are more than 2,000 confirmed sightings of this bird in Florida, so I really think it should have been in there. It had identification for lichens for heavens sake but not all the birds.
