Customer Reviews and Description The book gives you the tech you need, in terms you can understand. Calder is very impressive in his ability to impart knowledge to the layman. Don't however, assume this is just fluff overview, because it truly is the down and dirty of how it works and how to maintain it.

Customer Reviews and Description In June 1930 16-year-old Maurice stood on a London train platform bound for a five-year apprenticeship in the arctic hinterlands of Canada. A cerebral, sheltered, not very practical boy, Maurice had been inspired mostly by what he did not want. His family - widowed mother and siblings - had decided to immigrate to New Zealand to farm. Rather than share that agrarian fate, Maurice answered a Hudson Bay recruiting ad.

Customer Reviews and Description I've been reading these collections for the past few years. I felt that this collection concentrated too much on the political issues surrounding science for my tastes. I preferred earlier collections with more detail and content on both current science discoveries and historical context. While I do not disagree with the points of the essays, I didn't feel they added much to the debates at hand.

Customer Reviews and Description Every naturalist guide in the Galapagos has this book. They also sell this book at the Charles Darwin Center in Santa Cruz, and it is a must read. It explains how the islands came about and what makes them so unique. I highly recommend this book!

Customer Reviews and Description This book was recommended at a veterinary conference in Kansas City ... I work at a small animal hospital, and I was looking for a book to recommend to our clients when they are preparing for a new baby. I was hoping for more information, however, about problems that parents should expect between their child and the dog as the child grows up. This book presents realistic training ideas and other options (rehoming, euthanasia) for dogs that just should not be around kids, and also suggests when the owner ... Customer Reviews and Description My 14 month old LOVES this book! When he saw it for the first time he picked it up and ROARED at the dinosaur on the cover. We have to take this book with us when we visit Grandma's or go out for any length of time, and he has to have it read to him at least once a day. This is his favorite book.

Customer Reviews and Description Tons of good information to get started with using a GPS, goes beyond the basics. Really a very good starter book. Once you get this book, I would also recomend "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Geocaching" and the Owing's "GPS Mapping". With GPS for Dummies and my Garmins 60CS manual, I was able to hit the trail in a few hours. With the other books as complement, I have become very accurate locating waypoints when I do horse riding or 4x4 trips.

Customer Reviews and Description I picked this up on a whim in the library and am so glad I did! This story simply mesmerized me. Anyone interested in late 1800's pioneer life, weather, or American history will enjoy this book. It simply tells the stories of five families and several individuals as they "weather the storm" of 1888--a blizzard such as never had been seen before. Lives were lost, lives were saved, and lives were never the same. Human error, an act of God, and love, all came together one day on the plains. Mr. Laskin is to be ...
