Customer Reviews and Description I purchased this book and the Backyard Astronomers book at the same time. I use them both.......a lot!! This book is great because it gives you sky views (drawings not pictures) that really give you an idea of what to expect when looking up at the sky with unaided eye or through a telescope. The description that accompanies the objects of interest are well written and thought provoking. As a newbie to backyard astronomy I couldn't be more satisfied by the information I've received from this book. ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description This is a well written, interesting book. And mycelium running has more relevance than I ever imagined (if I thought about it at all). In general, I'd ditch science books for literature in 2 seconds. But I just can't put this book down. It's definitely worth your $$$.

Customer Reviews and Description This book is thin but chock full of wonderful nuggets of wisdom that allow you to understand how horses think so that you can interact with them on a personal level. For the new horse owner (me!) it made me go, "Ahhhh!" many times over. It enabled me to learn how to work WITH my horse, not against him, to achieve the goals I set. Three years later, I have a horse -- the first horse I ever raised -- that is sociable, smart and the darling of everyone who meets him. I'm very glad I found this book.

Customer Reviews and Description I own 6 of the most popular books on avalanche safety; this is by far the best. The core information needed to assess avalanche risk is given in some detail but the explanations are presented in "everyday" terms and are quite easy to understand. None-the-less,Tremper never talks down to his readers and the full level of complexity inherent in the subject matter is maintained. This is simply a very well written book by an author who appearantly is able to write well naturally. He would probably do very well writing about any ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description I fall into the first category, and I appreciate the topics written about. The book talks about situations before, during and after your decision to carry....and god forbid, your need to use your firearm for self-defense. It also goes through a discussion of the characteristics of various handguns and the decision making process. A very simple read that IMHO is packed with good information.

Customer Reviews and Description The two biologists who wrote this book have a rare mix of talent. They are both good scientists and good writers who can explain fairly complex theories while making it sound interesting. The book is also full of general observations and tips about the tropics. If you want to go to the tropics and take a look outside the hotel or the city, then this is a great book to read first.

Customer Reviews and Description I didn't read it cover to cover but it was not the type of book to be read like that. All in all I'd say it does a good job covering what is a pretty broad topic; there are so many "green" strategies out there and it is hard to discuss them all. I thought it did a good job on the three or so different main categories and it connected them back to the common denominator. Save, protect, and preserve natural resources. It covers site and land usage, energy and water conservation, and interior and exterior material usage. The author ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description This is a book that is about real life...and about death and the issues surrounding trying to get back to normal. If you don't shed a tear or two you are not human. (men included)
