Customer Reviews and Description One minor problem for me, that is evidently not a problem for many others, was the art. I was put off by the blotchy, surrealistic, color-schemes, which were distracting, and rarely added to whatever charm the line-drawings had.

Customer Reviews and Description The Other Hollywood is a series of interviews with folks working in the adult-entertainment industry, some obscure, some famous. I found it entertaining, especially the early chapters when they reminisce about the pre-1980 days. It's interesting to hear how the adult-film industry developed way back when. But if you're looking for titillation, go elsewhere: It's not an adult book itself, but simply reportage. I enjoyed it.

Customer Reviews and Description This book is a grand overview of the history of the native peoples of North America, from the time of first settlement until their ultimate confrontations with European immigrants. Josephy takes us on a tour of the continent from the Mayan and Aztec civilizations to the Inuits. For each group of people, he describes their major accomplishments and customary ways of life. He then traces what happened to the tribes when Europeans determined to take away their lands or resources.

Customer Reviews and Description When I first began homeschooling my children I came across this book. Since we were to soon see a high school production of Midsummer's Night Dream I read the Lamb version aloud to them before seeing the performance. The results were amazing. My children had no previous exposure to Shakespeare. The Lamb's ability to retain some of Shakespeare's original language greatly enhanced their comprehension. They loved the story and we able to follow the play with ease, laughing and clearly enjoying themselves much to the frustration of some ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description Well I must say that I am only a recent venturer into the Covenant novels (seeing as I was born following his sixth book 'White Gold Wielder'!). The adult phsycological theme that made up most of the first chronicles (well 'adult' in the way that children and probably young adults wouldn't be able to understand) meant that I read the first three a couple of years back, and only got round to the second chronicles and the most recent in the past few months! Have absolutely fallen in love with them indefinitely now though! The point I suppose ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description This book used to be the standard, in my mind, of what a book about the Presidents should be. The facts were interesting and often not well known, the coverage was balanced showing good and bad in these interesting and important people, and there were more facts about the cabinets and Supreme Court appointees than I've ever seen in a Presidential book. Until George W. Bush came along, that is; all of a sudden, balance is out of the window. Most of the earlier presidents had equal positive and negative comments shown at the end of their sections; ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description
