by: Solomon Wiener List Price: $24.95 Amazon.com's Price: $16.97 You Save: $7.98 (32%) Prices subject to change. Customer Reviews and Description This is a great book for preparing for the AFOQT. I was spooling up for a military pilot slot and took the Marine Corps flight test cold and did not do very well. I got this book before taking my first choice service (Air Force) flight test. I did quite well, that was back in '97, and I graduated USAF pilot training in Nov of '99. Take the practice tests under timed conditions. Just having seen the type of quesitons they ask having a feel for the time constraints of each section was a big help. |

Customer Reviews and Description After finishing this book I found myself a bit disappointed. It seemed that the authors were trying to accomplish two goals; To chronicle the battle history of a distinguished unit in WWII and to tell the tale of the personal struggles of the men who made up the unit and fought for their country dispite the racism and bigotry of the times. Unfortunatly the book fell short on both goals. As has been previously mentioned; How can you tell a tale of war and heroism without a single map or diagram. ... Read More |

by: Karin Evans List Price: $14.95 Amazon.com's Price: $10.47 You Save: $4.48 (30%) Prices subject to change. Customer Reviews and Description I do not give five star ratings lightly. This book is a gem. As other reviewers have mentioned, this book is part Chinese adoption "how to" and part travel diary. Both those sections are admirably done, but I treasure this book because Karen Evans presents a succinct summary of the causative factors of child abandonment in China. I would strongly recommend that anyone who has adopted from China or may adopt in the future read this book, for the sake of your daughter. Ideally, adopted children should have some contact with their ... Read More |

Customer Reviews and Description King Leopold's Ghost illuminates a nearly forgotten tragedy in human history: the exploitation of the Congo on behalf of one man during the late 1800s and early 1900s. King Leopold II of the Belgians enjoyed a reputation for humaneness due to his sponsorship of efforts to end the slave trade. As Adam Hochschild makes clear, the King's efforts were calculated so as to obscure from the world what was really going on in the Congo. Starting in 1885, Leopold's minions worked literally millions of people to death in the pursuit of profits in ivory and ... Read More |

Public companies were selected because of the availability of comparable data. Fifteen-year segments were selected to weed out the one-hit wonders and luck breaks. ... Read More |
