Customer Reviews and Description David McCullough's Mornings on Horseback is one of the more intimate of McCullough's works on America's overlooked historical figures. Much has been written on Teddy Roosevelt the President, but little on Roosevelt the boy. McCullough fills that scholarly void by analyzing the early life of Teddy Roosevelt and the family, events, and upbringing that molded him into one of America's finest Presidents.

Customer Reviews and Description Bradley's first book was acclaimed not only for its topic but because Bradley had a ghost writer who presumably edited out the worst of Bradley's revisionist thoughts about Japan's reasons for causing war.

Customer Reviews and Description This is a very honest and revealing memoir written by a Boston area journalist who is a recovering alcoholic. "Drinking: A Love Story" chronicles the turbulent history of Caroline Knapp's relationship with alcohol and with herself. Knapp doesn't sugar-coat anything about her experiences, and she is very open about how alcohol affected her personal relationships and also led her to practice other types of addictive behavior, including binge eating and sexual promiscuity. Many different forms and causes of alcoholism are explored ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description A rich collection of relatively short essays, with those highlighting Remen's family of origin (including her rabbi grandfather, a very thoughtful, spiritual man, and her parents and siblings who are all MD's of one sort or another), sprinkled among the majority of essays using stories from her patients as inspiration or illustration for her intuitive observations. She does attend medical school (as expected) and begins her medical practice at Stanford in a fairly conventional way. However, her involvement in an extended research ... Customer Reviews and Description This book is awesome. Luke Jackson does a wonderful job letting kids know that they are not the only one with Asperger's. I read it and it gave me a better understanding of what living with AS is like for my 12 year old son. My son read it, and now considers it cool to be different, instead of shameful. His self esteem is so much better now that he knows that there are others like him. My son loaned his copy to his teacher for her to read, and his classmates have shown an interest in reading it also. Great job Luke! Keep writing! ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description Those of us who live today are spoiled in one sense that we don't realize: We can see Matisse's work on display and appreciate its evolution. That wasn't possible until just the last few decades. Until then, many of his most powerful works were locked up in the Soviet system and not on display or were in the hands of reclusive collectors.
