Customer Reviews and Description .....read this book. This book was written from the heart. For the most part, it is written for an audience of young physicians but with an awareness that the patient may also be reading. It is told from the perspective of the experienced physician, in this case the author, Edward C. Rosenow III, M.D., who worked at Mayo Clinic for 31 years who learned "that many times the gift of caring and compassion are more effective in healing than the power of modern medicine." There are two main sections: ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description Your readers must have read a different book and may have confused the facts. Det. Van Houten was not "off duty" at the time of this incident and he was not a witness to a crime in progress, but was the victim of a attempted robbery by the Perry brothers. Det. Van Houten did not kill Edmund Perry. Edmund Perry killed himself when he went out looking for a victim, and unfortunately for him, chose the wrong one. You can take the kid out of the "hood" but you cant take the "hood" out of the kid. Perry chose ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description It doesn't get any better than this if you want to enjoy a move to the country story. There are a lot of stories about moving out of the city but with the Egg and I you get to step back to your grandmother's day and you find out that a lot of things just don't change.

Customer Reviews and Description I enjoyed the book very much with one caveat. It reads as a very long eulogy. The author continually defends his father, especially the veracity of his stories, and continually asserts his perfection as a human being. James Wight clearly loves his dad and wants to cement his sterling reputation, but after a while this approach wears thin. There's little drama or conflict. Even his father's depression is glossed over. In short, the book is a fine tribute but lacks the analysis that I expect of a serious biography.

Customer Reviews and Description At this point, most of us that live outside the areas directly affected by Katrina have moved on to other things: the threat of terrorism, the next natural disaster, or even the latest celebrity break-up. Ms. Thomas's story helps to draw our attention back to the continuing disaster that has affected thousands by focusing our attention on just a few: these seven children. Through their experience, captured by Ms. Thomas's unbiased and unpretentious writing, we are reminded of the horror and suffering visited on so many ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description Those who, like me, worship the very ground upon which R. Crumb treads and has trodden, will certainly enjoy this bio-documentary work. It sheds light on his influences from childhood through the prolific 70's and 80's and up to the present; it is densely illutrated and a joy to hold, whether scanning it as a coffee table conversation-starter or as a historical document. If, however, Crumb is new to you, please look elsewhere, to one of the many reproductions of his works. Crumb is a graphic artist, and is not fundamentaly a graphic ... Customer Reviews and Description Unlike some of the authors in the AP series, Charles Calhoun is a professional historian who has written previously about his subject's era. He clearly has the depth of knowledge to analyze Harrison and place him properly in his time.

Customer Reviews and Description I picked up this book on a whim and really enjoyed it. The writer has writen a captivating story about the loggin industry of the Northwest. He has managed to present several sides of the story and you come away informed without feeling like you have been preached too.

Customer Reviews and Description INITIATION by Elisabeth Haich. The inner core of this reportedly autobiographical novel revolves around the psychic reliving of previous incarnations by the author, and their applications and relevance to her contemporary life in pre-and post-World War II Germany as a woman, wife, mother and, eventually, spiritual teacher. The central incarnation is that of an ancient Egyptian princess who was granted initiation in the Sacred School. The lessons included exercises in meditation, concentration, body and sense control and telepathy. The exercises were primarily ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description
