Customer Reviews and Description I have read all of Satrapi's entertaining, educational and revealing books. Embroideries is all those things as well -- the only shortcoming is the length of the book -- the ending is very abrupt and you feel that there is much more to be said about the subject. Nonetheless would I recommend this book to anyone who liked Persepolis 1 & 2

Customer Reviews and Description A Bed of Red Flowers is a moving and eye-opening story about a family, a people and a nation under foreign occupation. In the west, we tend to associate Afghanistan with war and terrorism and in one respect this book is about growing up and coming of age in a country under foreign occupation, not a situation most Americans have had the opportunity to experience. But this is also a story about love: Pazira's love for her country and her people, her father, and her best friend Dyana. To survive war without ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description Having suffered from eating disorders myself for several years (anorexia, bulimia and binge-eating disorder) and having read practically every book on the subject, I have to say that this is the best eating disorder book of them all. Rachael is refreshingly honest and witty in her descriptions of the madness. She writes not only about her bizarre and excessive eating habits but also about issues that any female can relate to. The loathing of one's thighs, the envy of our girlfriends and the belief that when ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description I found out about the book through a recommended reading from Amazon and chose to buy it. I enjoyed every minute of it and finished reading it in one day. The account of mrs. Beer's life and how she chooses to phrase things made me feel as if she was actually in front of me telling me the story. I liked the fact that she explained the consequences she had for doing certain things and how that ended up tying to something that happens later.

Customer Reviews and Description I am using this book to add to a family tree album that I will be giving my sons for Christmas. While it is helpful, it does exclude someone who has been married two or more times. I had to fill out two diffent pages for two different marriages. However, what is really wonderful about the book is that you answer pertinent questions and leave others blank. I think both our sons will find the book interesting. When I finish I will sit my husband down and he can do one also! Worth investing in.

Customer Reviews and Description I can't begin to tell you how much I loved this book. Lende celebrates the simple life which so often goes unnoticed. The people came alive for me and reminded me of so many characters that I know. I was so moved by the book that I wrote to the Chamber of Commerce in Haines, AK to get more information about this little bit of heaven where neighbors take care of each other.

Customer Reviews and Description Scott O'brien's biography takes a determinedly positive look at the life and career of one of classic film's enigmas, Kay Francis. For a time the highest-paid woman in the U.S. as well as one of Hollywood's most popular stars, Francis fell quickly from the public eye and never achieved the lasting fame that even today keeps vital the reputations of many of her contemporaries.
