Customer Reviews and Description This is a good book for parents not just those with toddlers and preschoolers. It gives insight into the montessori method and really shows you the interelationship between how a child deveopls intellectually and physically. I wish that I had gotten it earlier because it has good insights into toddlerhood - tantrums and all. My son is 21/2 and we are hoping to send him to pre-school in September, so we wanted to get a guideline so to speak about what we should be looking for and the best kind of learning ... Customer Reviews and Description This book was really helpful in getting my house ready for the open house. A lot of it is common sense, but in the chaos of selling your house, it's nice to have it spelled out in a very clear format.

Customer Reviews and Description While we successfully opted to use a different training method to train our 4 year-old dughter- this book was very good at making sense out of our daughter's behavior. An autistic child can really be a challange to understand under normal curcumstances- the volume goes waaaaaay up when potty training. We would highly recommend this book to anyone getting ready to take on this very big job. Take what you can from this book and choose the method that feels most likely to work. Be committed. Chin up. Customer Reviews and Description This is truly a courageous book! Richard Hernstein first broke Political Correctness's stranglehold on the discussion of race and educational achievement with his book The Bell Curve, and though that groundbreaking book was meticulously researched, the author suffered a hail of mindless political-inspired assaults. Now, the authors of this book have built on Hernstein's work, calling for meaningful dialogue on what changes need to be made to the American educational establishment to provide meaningful results for ... Customer Reviews and Description Have you been amazed by the things your body can do(and probably cannot do) ... like the great stereo vision, the spatial hearing capability, the ease at which we learn/speak/update multiple languages. How does our brain achieve all this? How does our brain stores and incorporates new information? Where do human emotions come from? What is the reason behind anger, fear and other multitudes of human emotions? What is this thing called consciousness? What is the reason behind the peculiar male, female behaviour? What ... Customer Reviews and Description Every educated Asian I know (who has read this book) has given this book high marks. While a number of Anglo Americans I know have given this book mixed marks and at times (as with some of the reviewers here) have challenged the premise that there are cultural aspects to how we think. In the field of anthropology, this kind of Anglo skepticism has a technical term "naive realism." Nisbett challenges his own self-admitted naive realism to see the possibility of radically different worldviews underlying East and West cultures. What ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description I got this book because I wanted to learn about the basics of economics and the multitude of terms associated with it. It did a very good job of explaining the major universal concepts of economics, and when the author did have to "dumb" parts down in order to avoid over-complications, he very clearly stated this, which I liked. The book certainly did not cover very advanced topics, and I did not expect it to. It gave a good simple framework on the basic principles, which is what I was looking for.
