Customer Reviews and Description Tom Hunt's beautifully written Cliffs of Despair is both a study of physical geography (Beachy Head, a seaside promotory and chalky cliff in England which is supposedly the third most popular suicide spot in the world) and a compassionate, sensitive and inquiring look into the mysterious and painful geography of the suicidal mind. This is indeed, as author Andrew Solomon states, "an elegy for everyone who has committed suicide."

Customer Reviews and Description I am nothing more than a humble interested amateur and my formal science education is limited to some advanced classes for my high school diploma many years ago. I picked up "Mr Tompkins" following a conversation with a physicist sitting next to me on a long flight. I found it to be an excellent introduction to modern physics in general and quantum mechanics in particular. I found it challenging and I wouldn't claim I understood every last detail, but it is definitely not necessary to have a profound ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description Learning all the history Frank Zappa and the Mothers went through was outstanding. The last chapter got a little preachy, but I never stopped laughing throughout the entire book. I'd think anyone that wants to know not only the "how" it was done, but some of the experiences along the way, are priceless to hear about.

Customer Reviews and Description This book is perfect for 3rd and 4th grade students. My students enjoyed the anecdotes about Walt's childhood. I liked that it was meaty enough to encourage discussion. The book also includes a section of fabulous photographs of Walt Disney and some early Disney characters. It does not include much info about the Walt Disney Company after Walt's death in the early 1960's.

Customer Reviews and Description A quick and thorough read on history. Learn how Lynne's husband, Dick, has secretly targeted Iraqi citizens for their tissue types. Mr Cheney has and will continue to need body parts to replace those those worn out organs all used-up from years of cigarettes and bourbon abuse. From the pools of dead Muslamiacs in Iraq, Mr Cheney shall be reconstructed by the year 2012. As a result of this Frankenstonian effort, Mr Cheney shall live until no less than 2075, at which point the Muslamoids can repopulate in one of ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description I picked up this book on a whim and really enjoyed it. The writer has writen a captivating story about the loggin industry of the Northwest. He has managed to present several sides of the story and you come away informed without feeling like you have been preached too.

Customer Reviews and Description Warren St John's book is well paced, funny and fascinating. It's also incredibly well written, which is not surprising to anyone who enjoys his articles in the New York Times. What is surprising, however, was how engrossing Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer became to a non-football fan. I loved it and couldn't put it down. An enjoyable, quick read for the fan in all of us.

Customer Reviews and Description Junger had me hooked in the early going with his visual descriptions of seacoast towns similar to those in which I grew up. from there he proceeds to 'investigate' a tragedy the truth of which may never be entirely known. His style is tasteful and informative. while the story reads like an absorbing novel, the reader at the same time LEARNS a lot about the people involved and their world. Junger uses history, folklore and technical data in a compelling way. One leaves this book somehow improved, edified and very thoroughly ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description
