Customer Reviews and Description The way Alexandra Fuller describes the people, the attitudes and the land is brilliant. Anyone really involved in the South African conflicts would recognise parts of themselves, or their friends in the different characters that are described in the book. This book is an accurate description of Southern Africa and its people who have been affected by 40 years of tribal conflict and faithfully portrays the complicated relationship between black and white.

Customer Reviews and Description Despite all the bad reviews, I liked this book very much. I was recently diagnosed with this same disorder and could relate to many of his thoughts. I think Andy Behrman did a good job not only describing his illness,ie.OCD symptoms and narcissism, but can actually poke fun at himself. Having this disorder, I have found that finding a bit of humor can be a saving grace at times. Thank you Andy for a book well done. From one manic to another you wrote a good one depicting the ramble that goes thru our heads.

Customer Reviews and Description I am a classical homeschooler. The average person who asks, "How are you teaching your children at home?" has never heard of classical schooling and doesn't want a lecture. But if you say, "Like Marva Collins," their face lights up. For over 25 years Marva Collins has been the most famous teacher in America, yet not one American in a thousand can tell you what her method is called, how to find a local school that uses it, or how to teach that way at home. That disconnection sums up America's educational crisis ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description This little gem was probably my favorite book from seminary. Niebuhr takes you with him on the difficult journey through the first years of his parish ministry and teaches you how to think theologically about really practical dilemmas that arise as a clergyperson. My favorite thing about the book is that it is not written as a memoir, but in the moment, so you don't have an old, brilliant theologian reflecting on his years in ministry, but rather a young, brilliant pastor who doesn't know all the answers and doesn't ... Customer Reviews and Description "The Pianist" is a lot of things. It is simple - yet at the same time complex. It is detailed, but it's approach is simple. Szpilman does not cloud his writing with his own emotions or distress, oddly. As the epilogue states, this book probably was written in a state of shock. There is no thirst for revenge or intense hatred. There is a shadow of those feelings, but they are never explicity stated. Instead, Szpilman just recounts his experiences, and therefore we are allowed to conclude our own opinions of them, which I am sure ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description
