Customer Reviews and Description Back in the summer of 2003, I visited a former seminary roommate in Leon, Spain. I showed up a couple of days before his wedding after backpacking through Amsterdam, Paris, London, and Madrid. While strolling together through Leon, my Spanish friend remarked that people thought I was a "Pilgrim" because of my clothing and backpack. I asked him to clarify, and he replied that Leon was on the path of the Camino Pilgrimage. Thus began my interest in the topic.

Customer Reviews and Description One of my favorite songwriters of the '60s was Donovan. He has now condescended to grace us with an autobiography of sorts; more like a memoir of his life with all the rough edges filed off. It's like getting on a train in Garden City traveling for a hundred miles or so through lovely vineyards and heavily laden orchards to debark at the other end in Pleasant Valley. The train is filled with beautiful people who do wonderful favors for him.

Customer Reviews and Description This book is easily the best I have read in years, in terms of the sheer ability to write and pass along interesting and intelligent thoughts. Customer Reviews and Description We live in a time where it's hard to comprehend the wealth, power, and influence wielded by men like Carnegie, Rockefeller, J.P. Morgan, and Vanderbilt. Folks like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett carry only a whisper of the Goliath stature that was attained by a select few in the 1800s.

Customer Reviews and Description This is a classic biography by a master in his field. It is heavy at times, but that reflects the complex person, Augustine, as much as, or more than, the biographer's ability to portray him. The new added chapters, reviewing the more recent discoveries of letters and sermons, and relating how they changed the author's previous judgments of Augustine, are especially excellent.
