As other reviewers have mentioned, and I agree, it is a close style of Carl Hiaasen. The environment and the people anyway. Though the story was well executed overall, the preachiness (yes, I said it too) of Kean Melford (aka, authors viewpoint on animal rights) and insistance that eating meat is immoral, removes from the story. Customer Reviews and Description The book is really good if you don't know spanish and just want to read something to the patient and get a response that you don't understand. Don't get me wrong, it really is a decent book, but the emphasis is certainly not on learning medical spanish and is more on getting your point across to the patient. How you would interpret their answer will remain a mystery to me...I'll let you know how it went when I get back from our medical missions trip to Nicaragua.
