Customer Reviews and Description I love this little book! In fact, I've purchased a half-dozen copies for friends and relatives. Our small 1300 square-foot home is now populated with the perfect plant(s) for each room in the house. As a result of "How to Grow Fresh Air" I feel like each plant has a personality. And I treat them like members of the family. Great stuff. Get one!

Customer Reviews and Description Anyone who has attempted to use Autocad in the past knows that it is a very formidable task. At the present time I have only gotten into a few chapters of Autocad for Dummies. What I have read so far is written in plain English and is very easy to understand. I have high hopes for the rest of the book. As with any technical course, the material must be read and reread a number of times to absorb it completely. It is structured in a logical manner and addresses a wide spectrum of AutoCad techniques which ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description This book is quite a sport in the "popular" science arena. It opens with the premise that you may be of sound mind (as opposed to those authors who can barely contain their plodding indulgence of the great unwashed) and perhaps more than a little unfamiliar with physics (as opposed to writers who suppose you've got at least some basics in quantum theories or you wouldn't've bought it). Although Laughlin certainly doesn't shy away from a quantity of daunting scientific theories, discoveries, inventions that ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description Jean Strouse's powerful gift to tell a story combined with her intellectual muscle lead to a riveting biography of J.P. Morgan's life. I read this book when it first came out. I remember at some point there after visiting The Morgan Library and some "Morgan -- Bella da Costa Greene" missive was on display which I found enchanting after reading about the unusual and dynamic woman that came to work on his collection. "Morgan American Financier" is a great read and I imagine J.P. Morgan would approve.

Customer Reviews and Description The brain is a most fascinating organ, and this book opens a window on some of its features by illustrating what can happen as a result of diseases or other events. Despite the seriousness of the topic, the book is entertaining, even though stopping for a moment to put yourself in the shoes of the people to whom these events happen is immediately sobering. The author has built the characters he describes by mixing together several patients (at least, this is what the author reports), which I thought was a good ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description This book should be required reading for every administrator and teacher in the public school system -- possibly for every parent as well, particularly those who give any sort of credence to standardized test scores. Undoubtedly a polemic, this book still provides too much important information to discount. The authors of this collection of essays generally agree that public schools should be accountable; but they very carefully and thoroughly outline why NCLB is not the appropriate or accurate way to do so.
