Customer Reviews and Description This book was very different from Exupery's Little Prince which was more fast-paced and concise. This book has beautiful language and vivid imagery which makes the reader feel like they are in the pilot's seat. However, long-winded descriptions of circumstances, no matter how great they are, are quite tiresome when they go on for pages at a time. If you've got good concentration and mental energy, you'll love this book. I can only read 10 or 15 pages at a time before I get tired. Otherwise, I enjoy ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description Paul Zollo writes this book as a series of interviews with Tom Petty and the reader quickly realizes that Zollo has done his homework. He knows music and he really, really knows the Petty catalog. Even better, he is a good interviewer, who skillfully draws the soft-spoken Petty out as he shares about his triumphs and tragedies experienced in his 30-plus year career in music.

Customer Reviews and Description Very well-written and some good insights. The author is perceptive and had some interesting experiences in 1990's China (change in China is so rapid that her account is historical, not contemporary, already). One forgets at times how young she is until she has to deal with a personal tragedy at the end of the book and reverts to childhood. The only flaw is that the author has been somewhat corrupted by political correctness which sometimes leads to paralysis in her thinking. She's a foreigner in China, just ... Customer Reviews and Description Great explanation of early European-American conflicts, it sources and its eventual end. I found it moving that we have forgiven the British, in spite of all their atrocities, yet continue to deride the French (who were so instrumental in obtaining a victory).

Customer Reviews and Description Given the complexity of a life of greatness, any published bio could have been done differently -- so one could quibble with how this great man's life is presented. The authors have chosen a topical approach rather than a simple chronology. But this makes sense in light of the multi-tasked full agenda that McKay maintained for six decades of top-tier leadership.

Customer Reviews and Description This is much more than a coffee table book because of the extensive coverage of the artist: his life, his contemporaties, influences on his style and his influence on the styles of others. The lavish illustrations in glorious color emphasize the other-worldliness of the subject matter.
