Customer Reviews and Description Stumbled across this recently and found it an agreeable and on-target accound of life in Japan, based on my own experience. Some parts soar, others drag, but one could say that about almost any biographical work that rings true. I've found one other memoir that more thoroughly nails shut the whole (surprisingly huge) "teaching in Japan from the male perspective" genre, but Feiler's book fills in a lot of blanks for those who wonder what it's like to live and teach in Japan, and does it in an engaging ... Customer Reviews and Description This is an excellent book, which gives a thorough a balanced account of the Clinton presidency. The author gives good details about all of the controversies of this period ("Travelgate", "Whitewater", the numerous guest stays at the White House, etc.), so that the reader can get the facts about these events. We also get good information about many of Clinton's advisors, staff, and cabinet and who was influential and why and what the Clintons thought of them (e.g., George Stephanopoulos, Dick Morris, Lloyd Bentsen, ... Customer Reviews and Description I try to stay away from writing reviews on political books b/c it seems to bring out the worst in everybody. Also, it seems like alot of the reviewers haven't even read the book they are reviewing, whether it's written by Coulter, Franken, Hannity, or Carville. They just view it as an opportunity to go ballistic on the author.

Customer Reviews and Description I respect Jacques Pepin in many ways, but then there are times when I just want to say, "oh come on, you are better than that!" That says a lot, to a man of his career.

Customer Reviews and Description Those interested in American art of the last century will find great pleasure in reading this book. Chicago and New York are the centers from which Katharine Kuh radiated. As a museum curator, art dealer, and published critic, she was personally close to many of the modern masters. In this book, she provides short but telling stories about their work and lives. I especially liked the chapters on Rothko, Tobey and Noguchi.

Customer Reviews and Description The author's story was very interesting to read. The way he handled being seriously injured in a mountain climbing accident, and then having to live the rest of his life in severe pain, was highly inspiring. I hope I can apply the same principles to improve my attitude about life and overcome depression!

Customer Reviews and Description Too bad Jim Wooten couldn't get himself out of the story even tho he promised at the beginning to insert himself only where necessary. I felt like I was listening to a documentary vs. reading a memoir. He completely missed the emotional tone of the thing and instead, got lost for three pages on who the father was. He should stick to Tv or whatever he did before that made him famous.

Customer Reviews and Description I bought this book for my father. He is an advid Bear Bryant fan and Alabama fan. He is not much of a reader though, but when he saw this book he just loved it. He has enjoyed it better than any other magazine or article we have found for him. Thank you very much.
