- Even in 2006, this is an important book. Now more than ever.
This book is based on the columns of New York Columnist Paul Krugman from 2000-2003. They are prescient and disturbing. He brings an "outside the beltway" perspective to the economic issues of government. He exposes the intellectual dishonesty behind the Bush administration's social security arguments in stark but simple terms. Even if you are one of those folks that "don't trust the New York Times", you need to read this book. At the very least, someone needs to refute the simple and straightforward economic ... Read More

Krugman is a brilliant economist, and that's something his detractors almost always find hard to digest. I suppose many of them come from the Ludwig von Mises institute, that incubator of mostly crackpot economic theories.
