I was suprised by how addictive this series was. Of course I was suprised by crack too but what are you gonna do. It started off a little slow and simple but after the first couple of chapters I couldn't put it down. - Good, but a familiar story
I have to say that I haven't read all the novels that some reviewers claim Paolini used as his "role models" for Eldest. Because of that, I found the book to be entertaining, although I can understand why those who are familiar with Robert Jordan, Anne MacCaffery, Ursula K. LeGuin, etc. would find it to be too close to those sources to be enjoyable. (Although now I'll probably read those original sources to see for myself.) Eldest is a good read, a few slow spots, but all in all a good book. It gives background on the main characters and sets you up for the 3rd book.
