Why Does He Do That?: Inside the Minds of Angry and Controlling Men
Product Description:
Are you now, or have you ever been, in relationships with family, friends, or mates who have been verbally abusive? Is your happiness with someone you love continually threatened by interactions that continually undermine your self-esteem? Do you feel trapped in a relationship that keeps decaying in a downward spiral of overt or passive-aggressive abuse?
If so, this book could be your life raft, either carrying you toward repair of the existing relationship or the effects of past relationships or offering liberation from your current confusion. Its practical approach can help clear your head and possibly change your life. The only criticism that I and other readers have is that the author assumes verbal abuse is
almost always
directed by males toward females, which, in my experience and that of others I know, is not necessarily the case. Highly Recommended.

Not Just For Woman
As a concerned male, I purchased this book for a close female friend. There exists evidence that she suffers from verbal and psychological abuse, covertly administered by her partner. Observing that she appeared oblivious, to the obvious, my intent was to assist her in determining her truth, and how she may respond in a precise manner. How eloquent, forthwith, insightful and educating are Patricia Evan's words. She has presented a comprehensive guide to assist in the recognition of abuse, and steps for healing. An extremely usefull tool for survivors and secondary victims, 'The Verbally Abusive Relationship' is a must read. The book seems to have been written primarilly for the female survivor in mind yet, as a male survivor of abuse, I found it enlightening. Also, Ms. Evans clear definitions ...

A great book about personal accountability
I found this book to be tremendously valuable. The author is very insightful and offers sage advice and an empowering tool for individuals who wish to address verbal abuse in their relationships- either as a result of their own behavior or someone elses. I think it is valuable to call attention to one who suffers the problem of being in destructive abusive patterns of using manipulation to gain control to read and recognize that their behaviour is abusive. Likewise it is useful in assisting one who is being abused in recognizing abusive behavior that is used to manipulate him or her. " A rose by any other name...." This book helps elucidate that abuse under any other guise... such as "teaching" or "constructive criticism" or a means of getting ones own way, or a means of getting things done efficently ...

Excellent book!!!! Priceless information.
I read this book in two days and have given it to my spouse to read. This is what we have been looking for to help heal our relationship. Very good people can be effected by verbal abuse either through their own use or anothers. It can really damage a relationship. I purchased another copy for a friend. Prior to giving it to her I loaned the copy to my mother. She returned it the next day because it was so interesting she bought one for herself. I highly recommend this book. It was a very easy read with priceless information and insight. Patricia Evans really connected and put it on paper. Thank you! Thank you! I also recommend Why Does He Do That? by Lundry Bancroft.
